My cousin Vinny is loved by his family, lawyer Stephen DiCarmine testified Tuesday at the penalty phase for Bonanno crime boss Vincent Basciano.
DiCarmine was the only family member to take the stand seeking mercy for Basciano who faces death by lethal injection, or a life sentence for ordering a mob murder.
He brought a trove of photos from the family album, showing Basciano as a youngster growing up in Yonkers, a pre-teen making goofy faces and later as a handsome young father holding his baby sons.
"I think Angela (Basciano's ex-wife) said to my sister last week, 'I'd marry him all over again,' " DiCarmine said. "I don't want to imagine a world where he doesn't exist."
There were no photos of Basciano's parents - he stopped his lawyers from arguing that Basciano suffered a "physically abusive childhood" at the hands of his father, Gennaro Basciano.
